Outriders sales have not yet covered all the costs of its development and marketing
For no one is a secret that over the past couple of years, the publisher of Square Enix has released a decent number of games that could not live up to the expectations of the company's income. One of these is Outriders, published last year from the RPG player from the PEOPLE Can Fly studio. This was stated by the Polish developer in his last financial report.
In August last year, the studio already said that she did not receive any deductions from Outriders sales, and this did not happen until the very end of 2021. The fact is that the entire income received from the game was not able to cover the costs of development, marketing, and The distribution that Square Enix spent. According to the contract, the deductions of the People Can Fly are based on the earnings received from the sale of the game after covering all the costs of the Japanese publisher.
Although the studio claims that this was as of December 31, 2021, the report has a clarification that after she receives royalties, it should be announced by law. And since this has not happened, it means that until now, the profit from sales has not covered all the expenses of the publisher. What is even worse, in the report the developer claims that he is not sure that even in the future, the net profit of Outriders will be able to block all Square Enix expenses for the game.
